Family & Children's Services provides a variety of programs designed to help parents tackle the challenges of raising children in today's world. Please contact our main office at 908.352.7474 for more information on any of the following offerings:

Parenting Skills Education Program - All parents try to do their best - but the best of intentions don’t always produce the desired result. Our Parenting Skills Education Program consists of twelve weekly parent skills development classes and is a guide for parents of children of all ages, to help children develop self-discipline, responsibility, cooperation and problem-solving skills.

Strengthening Families Program - This program is ideal for parents with children from ages 6 to 11 who are interested in greatly improving their family’s quality of life. The twelve-week program helps promote and achieve improved family relations, improved parenting skills, improved children’s behavior, increased social competency and help in the reduction or prevention of alcohol and drug abuse.

Confident Parenting - This program provides parents with an understanding of how behavior is shaped by its consequences and the proven methods to manage the consequences of their children’s behaviors. The program also helps parents target some of their children’s specific behaviors to be modified. Parents are provided feedback, support and guidance as they work on modifying their children’s behaviors. Within a supportive environment, children are taught to develop positive coping skills. Overall, the program assists families in eliminating stressors which may lead to child neglect and abuse.

Anger Management Program - Anger is a normal human emotion, but when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems — problems in the workplace, in personal relationships and in an individual’s quality of life. It’s not always possible to avoid situations and people that cause anger, but learning how to control our reactions is possible. Group participants are helped to understand and manage their feelings of anger. This program offers 12 weekly evening group sessions for adults 18 years or older.

To participate in some of these programs, eligibility requirements must be met.
